Brussels – Second panel of the International Conference on the Global Alliance Against Migrant Trafficking

Albanian Interior Minister Taulant Balla told the international conference in Brussels that countries should unite in a common effort to combat the growing wave of migrant smuggling. Speaking at this important event for the EU, Balla emphasized the importance of the alliance between nations that demonstrates a commitment to cooperative solutions. Reporting on the measures taken by Albania to deal with illegal migration, he said that the State Police have identified 177 cases of migrant smuggling, 9 cases of trafficking in minors, and 11 cases of human trafficking, leading to the identification of 330 perpetrators involved, 147 of whom have been arrested.

“The nature of migrant smuggling transcends borders, and it is clear that a unilateral approach is insufficient. A global alliance serves as a powerful mechanism for sharing critical information, resources, and best practices. Albania envisions a global alliance based on the principles of unity, shared responsibility and collective action,” Minister Balla proposed at the conference.
